‘Inside The Spider’ is a project based on Walthamstow Marshes, East London, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and one of the last natural wetlands in the capital.. For three years I have been visiting these marshes on a regular basis and exploring my changing relationship I’ve had with the landscape over this period of time. The project is a representation of the physical and present but is also an imagination of what has taken place in the land. There is a troubled atmosphere surrounding the beautiful, natural spectacle of the marshes and the contrasting feelings of darkness and allure are the basis of this work. By abstracting and sculpting the landscape I hope to represent my own personal, subjective understanding of the area.
