French photographer Michel Kirch has been announced as the overall winner of Professional category with the title: Monochrome Photographer of the Year 2016 and $2000 prize money. His winning image, called ‘Vertical Horizon’ shows Persian harmony in the town of Khiveh in Uzbekistan.

Additionally, in Amateur category Russian photographer Mikhail Shestakov was announced as Monochrome Discovery of the Year 2016 with $1000 prize money for his winning image called ‘Pure’.

The 2016 Monochrome Awards received 8122 submissions from 81 countries around the world. Winning images were selected by panel of international judges, including: Pia Elizondo, Michel Rajkovic, Ben Nixon, Norma I. Quintana, Martin Stavars, Allison Barnes, Katarina Balgavy, Claire A. Warden, David Johndrow and Stefano Brunesci.
