Armenia reestablished its independence nearly 25 years ago with the legacy of Soviet architecture. These buildings across the republic are as fascinating as they are monotonous. Their utilitarian purpose is incorporated into the design: colorless blocks, uniform heights. An idea of creating something similar while giving some differences like the windows, lines, shapes and textures were given some style. These all makes the Soviet Architecture interesting and amazing just as ugly and monotonous it is.
Tatevik Vardanyan – based in Yerevan, Armenia. Working commercially and taking editorial assignments, mostly for magazines and NGOs. Personally devoted to street photography. Published in online and print magazines world wide. Selected for various exhibitions and showcases. Along with continuing her work as a photographer, Tatevik has been leading photography workshop and creating educational content at Tumo Center for Creative Technologies. A unique after school educational center devoted to give free education to teenagers.
